Did you know? One bee must consume 6-8 pounds of honey and travel approximately 150,000 miles in order to produce 1 pound of beeswax in the hive, and this is all done within its lifespan of 4 weeks!

 Beeswax comes from the honeycomb where bees store their honey. The colour of the wax comes from the pollen oils mixing into the honeycomb. This is how we can get different shades of yellow all the way to a brown wax (which is becoming more popular). 

Simply put, no. Honey and wax are forms of natural secretion required by the bee in order to reproduce. Without honey, the bees can’t eat. Without wax, the bees can’t store their eggs to become fertilized. 

Beekeepers must be wise to know how much honey they can safely remove without hurting the bee population in any way. And for about 100 pounds of honey, we’ll only get about 1-2 pounds of wax. 

But did you know?

Bees are the only animal whose sole purpose is to create food for humans! Not to mention, the beeswax has multiple uses as well. 

I’m a firm believer in God and The Bible, and since the beginning, the Promised Land was always considered the ”land flowing with milk and honey”. 

What a luxury these must be and healthy for our bones!
